11/16/2018 Our event is still on, we will continue to monitor the air quality changes and rain forecast over the next few days and update the website and notify participants of their options by 6 PM Monday November 19, 2018.
A Note from the Race Director:
The Solano Turkey Trot, like all running/walking events, exists to promote and encourage exercise and fitness. It would be contradictory and negligent to proceed with the event in conditions which are indisputably detrimental to the health and safety of our participants, as well as the volunteers, staff, sponsors and law enforcement that are required to host the race. With this in mind, we are watching the air quality over the next week to decide whether the event is safe to go forward with. Please keep a watch out for another email on Monday, November 19th for an update on the air quality and further instructions.
Our most heartfelt prayers are with people facing this unimaginable tragedy, and our sincere gratitude is with all the men and women who are working to both fight the fire as well as provide assistance (including The Salvation Army of Solano County) to those affected.
We have had a few emails regarding the expected rain heading our way next Wednesday/Thursday and we hope this forecast holds up, we definitely need rain! Assuming the air quality has improved, the event will go on if it is raining (unless thunder/lighting is involved) and we will celebrate the moisture.
Thank you for all your support in helping raise funds Meals on Wheels of Solano County and The Salvation Army KROC center of Solano county and we hope to host you on Thanksgiving morning for our 10TH ANNUAL EVENT!
Yours In Health,
Carol Gilpin, Race Director
